Boreal Collection- Bear 122
If you haven’t heard the story of the legendary grizzly who’s been appropriately named “boss bear” you probably haven’t been to Banff. Boss bear is bear 122, an absolute beast of a grizzly who’s fathered up to 70% of cubs in the park. He’s also built like a literal tank. This piece features a hand painted aurora dancing over reclaimed cedar mountains and a silhouette of the boss himself wandering through the woods.

Wood Source
The stunning cedar in this piece is from a stack of offcuts offered to me over the summer by a contractor who had saved them for a few years. It was supposed to be sold as firewood and I am so, so happy I was able to turn it into art instead! The frame is made of used pine 2x4s from a basement renovation. It’s been stained black with a water based stain.
