Subliming

Subliming

Subliming is a defence mechanism that allows us to transform negative emotions by using them as fuel for positive outcomes such as exercise, hobbies, art ect…

I was first introduced to the word when one of my favourite bands, Ritchy Mitch and the Coal Miners, released a song titled subliming. I related to the lyrics on a deep level. This piece is for people on a healing journey. It’s for people who turn their hurt, trauma and pain into something beautiful instead of harming others. This piece is for people who left a past version of themselves behind to work through their trauma, fears and insecurities. You may be learning more about this new version of yourself but damn does it feel good to look back on the mountains you climbed to get here.

Most importantly this piece is the very first I’ve made with the off cuts from my wood shop walls. I saved a handful to create some pieces to honour my journey to get to this point and the incredible support I’ve received from all of you along the way. I’d never be here if it wasn’t for you.
